Business Journal honors Women in Business award winners

The Business Journal awarded 15 Triad women with its sixth-annual "Women in Business" awards, which were presented at a Friday luncheon at Embassy Suites in Greensboro.

"The success being enjoyed by women entrepreneurs in the Triad has never been greater, and the influence being wielded by female business leaders in the region has never been more widespread," wrote Business Journal Publisher Doug Copeland in a special section on the awards that appears in the April 28-May 4 print edition.

Winners included:

  • Karen Adams, vice president and general manager, Fox 8 WGHP, High Point;
  • Betsy Annese, president, Annese Public Relations Inc., Winston-Salem;
  • Karen Bartoletti, executive director of community health outreach, Sara Lee Center for Women's Health at Novant Health, Winston-Salem;
  • Margaret Shea Burnham, partner, Nexsen Pruet Adams Kleemeier PLLC, Greensboro; Linda Carlisle of Summerfield, member, N.C. Education Lottery Commission;
  • Sherry Carpenter-Elliott, vice president of work force development services, Goodwill Industries of Northwest N.C. Inc., Winston-Salem;
  • Michele Deuterman, vice president of human resources and administration, Kay Chemical Co., Greensboro;
  • Robin Ganzert, national director, Wachovia National Center for Planned Giving, Winston-Salem;
  • Deborah Allen Grant, vice president of nursing services, Moses Cone Health System, Greensboro;
  • Mary Magrinat, president and owner, Benefits Group, Greensboro;
  • Karen McNeil-Miller, president, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, Winston-Salem;
  • Cathy Propst, co-owner, Guilford Medical Supply, Greensboro;
  • Georgia Rasmussen, long-term care insurance specialist, Rasmussen and Associates Long-Term Care Planning, High Point;
  • Barbara Reece, owner and director, Touched by Angels Home Healthcare Inc., Yadkinville; and,
  • Rosemary Wander, associate provost for research and public-private partnerships, UNC-Greensboro.
