Greensboro, NC -
NewBridge Bank's educational support initiative, "Stock the Schools," collected about 3,100 pounds of school supplies this summer for schools in six area counties.
"We continue to be impressed by our community and employees who always seems to come through during this tough economic time," said Pressley Ridgill, NewBridge Bank President and Chief Executive Officer. "NewBridge Bank's goal is to be involved and connected with our communities, education and supporting our teachers is one of our main areas of focus."
The Stock the Schools campaign ran from July 6 to August 10. Teachers in Davidson, Guilford, Forsyth, Stokes, Rockingham and Randolph counties developed a wish list of school supplies. Each NewBridge Bank branch and Triad Panera Bread locations had drop-off cans where the supplies could be donated. On August 7, radio station 98.7 Simon held a live remote at Panera
Bread on Lawndale in the target shopping in Greensboro to help collect school supplies during tax-free weekend. ABC45 and MyTV48 produced and aired a PSA on the campaign.
"Our campaign would not be as such without the wonderful partners we have in 98.7 Simon, ABC 45 and My 48, and our newest partner Panera Bread." said Ridgill. "What a positive impact we can have on education when the whole community television, radio, businesses, and individuals come together to fill a need in our schools."
On average, teachers spend more than $1000 of their own money every year on classroom supplies for their students.
